| |Frequently
Asked Questions About the Sailing
Club. |
Q:
"How do I get to go sailing as a
club member?"
Club J/24 sloops sail with a minimum of
3 members aboard, one of which must be
a skipper member. Skipper members need
crew and crew members need a skipper and
the club puts the group together. Just
call the office and tell us when you would
like to sail then meet your fellow club
members at the dock. It's that easy.
Q: "How
often can I go sailing?"
Skipper members have unlimited boat reservation
privileges. Crew members may have one
sailing reservation on the books at a
time. Once a crew member completes their
reserved sailing session they can then
make another reservation. The week begins
on Tuesday and ends on Sunday. We are
closed on Mondays. Each sailing session
is typically 4 to 5 hours long.
Members can get out on the water whenever
they choose. Some sail 3 or 4 times per
week! The more you sail, the better the
value.
Q: "If
I'm a crew member, will I be allowed to
drive the boats?"
Absolutely! Skippers are responsible for
maneuvering the boats in & out of
the marina but once you are out sailing,
all members rotate positions. This gives
all crew members the opportunity to improve
their helming skills every time they go
sailing.
Q: "Can
I bring a guest sailing?"
Absolutely. The guest fee is $20 per guest
per sail but members can only bring the
same person twice. If a guest sails at
the club and as a result of the experience
decides to register for a course or become
a member, we will deduct 50% of any guest
fees previously charged from their course
registration fee.
Q: "Can
I join the club after the season has already
started?"
New members who join after the season
begins buy a one year membership from
the day they join until the same day the
following year. After that date we prorate
their dues for the remainder of the second
season for example If you join
on June 1, 2005 you pay $1,000 as either
a skipper or a crew member. Your membership
is valid until June 1, 2006. If you then
want to renew your membership for the
remainder of the 2006 season your dues
would be prorated at that time so you
would only pay to sail from June 1 through
the end of the 2006 season. If you then
wanted to renew for the 2007 season you
would once again pay for a full year at
the beginning of the 2007 season.
